Forest Creek High Country Lodge is situated on a working farm in New Zealand's South Island.  New Zealand's high country is unique, has spectacular views and unending possibilities for outdoor activities.  At the Lodge's doorstep is a private and renowned trout stream.  It is a wonderful place to try for the elusive brown trout.   The view from the lodge is of the majestic Rangitata Valley.  Nearby are wonderful tramping trails.

Forest Creek High Country Lodge is located in a remote area of New Zealand.   We do not have cell phone coverage in our area so please keep in mind the following:

The nearest towns (with shops including supermarkets & fuel) to Forest Creek High Country Lodge are either Ashburton or Geraldine.  
Please make sure you have a full tank of fuel and necessary supplies before leaving either of these towns.

Approximate travelling times:
Ashburton to Forest Creek High Country Lodge - 1 hour 40 minutes
Geraldine to Forest Creek High Country Lodge - 1 hour 15 minutes

You will need to drive to Peel Forest to connect with the Rangitata Gorge Road which will take you inland to Forest Creek High Country Lodge. 

Directions from Peel Forest are as follows:
From the Peel Forest Cafe & Bar (this is the last "shop" before driving to the Lodge) head northwest on Peel Forest Rd  for (1.1 km)  then continue right onto Rangitata Gorge Rd travelling for  (43.2 km) 
Your destination will be on the left  4365 Rangitata Gorge Road with a yellow sign saying Forest Creek near a stone entrance. 

Please note:
About 30km of the Rangitata Gorge Road is unmetaled (gravel), there are also three fords (water crossing the road with concrete bases) to drive through, and five single lane bridges. Sometimes sheep or cattle are being shifted on the road so please slow down when approaching stock. 

From Peel Forest to Forest Creek High Country Lodge will take you approx  1 hour driving time and that is if you haven't stopped to take photos of the stunning scenery!
